I'm dead serious about fighting truthiness. But if Stephen Colbert can coin terms, why can't we?
Truthypox: The intellectual blight caused by truthiness. Begins in the gut and spreads to the head, causing blindness to common sense, comity, concord and courtesy. "It was evident in the debate that the candidate suffered from a bad case of truthypox."
Librarians-in-arms: A ragtag militia of traditional librarians, 21st century librarians, teacher librarians, professional librarians and yes, maybe sexy librarians who won't take it anymore and will wage war against truthiness as if it were the Red Menace itself. "The war against truthiness opened a new front in Spokane, Washington where librarians-in-arms met last week at the Washington Library Media Association Conference and were later seen emerging from The Sukiyaki Inn."
Bibliopatriotism: Librarianship as patriotic duty to ensure that citizens are effective users and producers of information and ideas. "Digital citizenship is really about bibliopatriotism--making sure that our young people can read, think and create to compete and win in the global marketplace."
